So one topic that’s been on my heart for a long time, is the difference of those who call themselves, ”Believers” verses those who call themselves, ”Followers” of Jesus Christ. So lets explore together the similarities and the differences of the two statements. For the longest time I too only proclaimed to be a believer in God and Jesus because at the time I was under the impression that that’s all it took to get to heaven. Young and ignorant, I would argue with people in school about God and about Jesus truly believing that I was living a righteous life, although my actions didn’t really match my words behind closed doors. But by definition was I living contrary to what I said? I mean many people believe in God or some form of a god, and quite frankly to only believe doesn’t require action, it requires faith and a thought. On the other hand we have the saying that, “I am a follower of Jesus Christ.” The follower of Jesus takes His teachings and applies them to their lives. To follow Christ demands a response, a change in not only our hearts and minds but in our habits and actions. To follow Jesus is to die to self, correct? We choose to crucify ourselves with Christ on a daily basis, take up our cross, and follow Him.Its an interesting fact, that when Jesus called the disciples never once did He say, believe in me, he called out to Peter, Andrew and the others saying, “Follow Me.” I look at the contrast in the Word of God and see that the most evident difference is, even demons believe in God and the Son and they tremble at the name. James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.Brothers and Sisters in the Lord I plead with you to not only Believe in Jesus and the Father but we follow Him as well. Putting into practice the teachings of Jesus, showing the world the love of Christ in our actions and words. My prayer is that we follow Him daily, because it is a choice, choose Jesus.Faithfully Learning with you,JDJacobson
